Joe Gray

I was first introduced to CrossFit during my undergraduate studies in sport science. I loved the variety and intensity found in the methodology and used this to supplement my competitive basketball training throughout university.

Throughout my master’s degree in strength and conditioning, I gained experience working with multiple sporting disciplines and teams, including Northumbria University American Football and Newcastle United Football Academy. Here I developed underpinning knowledge and practical coaching skills in various fields of strength and conditioning.

I’ve coached CrossFit through regular classes for the last 5 years, programmed online through JST Compete for the last 3, and for the past 2 years I have managed a highly successful CrossFit box in the north-east of England. I design and implement the class programming across two sites, alongside an additional competition programme for the members.

Coaching is my absolute passion. I gain so much from helping others to hit their goals and maximise their potential, you will see this in my personal approach to your training and programming. Attentiveness to detail and a broad knowledge of training and periodisation are at the crux of my coaching.

Ultimately, your success is a two-way street. I expect a good line of communication with any of my athletes. Regular check-ins, good quality training notes which keeps me up to date with any adaptations that may be needed, and a level of discipline that allows us both to stay the course. I look forward to working with you!
